Lincoln City midfielder Ivan Varfolomeev has signed a one-year contract extension to remain with the club until the summer of 2030. The 22-year-old Ukrainian, who joined from Slovan Liberec last summer, has been a regular starter in the Championship this season.

Varfolomeev helped the Imps win the League One title last season in his first year in English football. He has featured in most of the club's league games since their return to the second tier. Lincoln currently sit 12th in the table, a position they will look to strengthen when they face Sheffield United next month.

Sporting director Jez George described Varfolomeev as one of the club's outstanding young players. The new deal represents a significant commitment from both parties as the player balances his club duties with international ambitions.

Varfolomeev has been called up to the Ukraine national side and is in contention for his senior debut in upcoming Nations League matches. He has spoken about settling into life in Lincolnshire while his family remains in Ukraine following the full-scale Russian invasion.

The club's recent form has been mixed. Their next challenge is an away trip to face Sheffield United. Varfolomeev's extended contract provides stability as Lincoln City continue their Championship campaign.
