Lincoln City have added former Wrexham captain Shaun Pearson to their first-team coaching staff. The 37-year-old will support joint head coaches Chris Cohen and Tom Shaw as the club looks to build on a solid start to the Championship season.
Pearson retired from playing in 2023 and most recently served as assistant head coach at Grimsby Town, where he also had two caretaker spells in charge. He brings extensive experience from over 130 appearances as Wrexham's captain, a role he held until shortly after the club's high-profile takeover in 2021. He left Grimsby in August to pursue a new opportunity.
Current context
Lincoln City currently sit 12th in the Championship table with 11 points from their opening eight matches. Their recent form shows two wins, one draw and two defeats from the last five games. The Imps' next fixture is away to Sheffield United on 10 October, with the Blades currently 18th.
The appointment adds another layer of Championship-level leadership to the backroom team, which also includes goalkeeping coach David Preece and performance analyst Logan Hughes. Pearson's knowledge of lower-league football and his leadership qualities are seen as valuable assets for the squad.
Lincoln City host Wrexham at Sincil Bank, a fixture that will see Pearson face his former club.
