Lincoln City have verbally agreed “quite a few” transfer deals as they accelerate recruitment for the upcoming Championship campaign, CEO Liam Scully has confirmed.
What transfers are in the pipeline?
Scully told BBC Radio Lincolnshire that several incoming moves are close, though some hinge on other clubs completing their own business first. The Imps have been strongly linked with Tottenham Hotspur forward Mason Melia, 18, on a season-long loan, and Västerås SK striker Mikkel Ladefoged, 23, on a permanent deal. Neither has been officially announced.
Who are the key targets?
Melia, a Republic of Ireland international, joined Tottenham from St Patrick’s Athletic in January 2025 and has 21 league goals in 76 senior appearances in Ireland. Ladefoged, a 2m-tall Danish centre-forward, scored 10 goals in 15 games last season to help Västerås win promotion to the Allsvenskan. Both would offer contrasting options for managers Chris Cohen and Tom Shaw.
Why the delay in announcements?
Scully cited wider market movement as a factor, with Lincoln City’s ambitious strategy prioritising long-term squad depth over short-term fixes. He stressed the club are building for a 46-game Championship season, not just the opening weeks. Fans can expect updates in the coming days as deals near completion.
