Lee Trundle has confirmed Lincoln City showed interest in signing him during his early career. The Swansea City legend, now 49, revealed the approach came during John Beck's time as manager.
"Ha ha yeah he was interested mate and there was talk," Trundle said. The forward was playing for non-league sides Burscough and Chorley at the time, before he eventually signed his first Football League deal at 25. He went on to become a Swansea icon, scoring 86 goals for the club between 2003 and 2007.
Trundle's comments follow Lincoln's recent 2-1 defeat to his former club. The Imps took the lead through a Reeco Hackett-Fairchild penalty in the first half, but Swansea scored twice in four minutes after the break to win. That result left Lincoln 12th in the Championship with 11 points from eight games.
Now an ambassador for Swansea, Trundle still plays for Cwmbrân Town. He also praised Lincoln's start to this season despite their loss. The Imps' recent form shows two wins, a draw and two defeats from their last five matches.
With Tendayi Darikwa currently sidelined, attention turns to the next challenge. Lincoln travel to face 18th-placed Sheffield United on 10 October. The full squad available for that trip is listed on our squad page.
