Lincoln City have secured the future of a key senior player by triggering a one-year contract extension for Adam Reach. The 33-year-old defender will now remain at the ProAmpac Stadium until the end of the 2027/28 season, with the club activating the option in January to add 12 months to his deal.

Sporting director Jez George emphasised the importance of retaining experienced figures for long-term planning, describing the move as fair and right for the club's future. He highlighted that Reach's sprint and high-speed running distances per game remain consistently impressive, providing key data that supported the decision. George also pointed to the defender's role within the group of experienced players as particularly vital following Tendayi Darikwa's long-term injury.

Reach's Consistent Role

At 33, Reach has been a constant presence during Lincoln's challenging return to the Championship. He has featured in all but one of the Imps' 11 league games this season, contributing both on the pitch and as an influential voice in the dressing room. His experience has been a stabilising force for a side currently 18th in the standings with 12 points from their opening fixtures. The team's record of three wins, three draws and five defeats has yielded a goal difference of minus ten, having scored nine and conceded 19. Last season, his contribution of four goals in 31 appearances was a significant part of the club's historic promotion back to the second tier for the first time since 1961.

The extension comes at a key moment in the campaign. Lincoln's recent form shows one win, one draw and three defeats from their last five matches, a run that includes a 2-2 draw at Millwall last Saturday. In that match, Reach's teammates Andrei Coubiș and Robert Nicholas Street, assisted by Sonny Bradley, scored the goals. Securing Reach's services provides continuity and leadership as the team looks to build momentum and climb the table ahead of their next fixture, at home to Burnley on Saturday 24 October.
