Former Lincoln City defender MJ Kamson-Kamara has been backed to succeed at Kilmarnock by his former Lincoln City colleague Erik Ring. The 20-year-old moved to the Scottish Premiership club on a temporary basis from Hearts on the final day of the transfer window, with the agreement set to conclude in January.
Kamson-Kamara has not yet played for his new club but has been among the substitutes for their two most recent games. Ring, who also switched from Lincoln to Kilmarnock earlier this year, stated that his ex-teammate is adapting rapidly.
"He’s a funny guy, a good player, and a good personality," Ring said. "It’s been great; he’s not shy! He’s settling in well."
Ring and Kamson-Kamara were teammates during the defender's initial season at Lincoln before he departed on loan. Each made their first senior appearance for the club in the EFL Trophy, with Kamson-Kamara entering as a substitute against Grimsby Town while Ring was in the starting lineup versus Chesterfield.
Since his exit from Lincoln, Kamson-Kamara's career has been active. He agreed to his first pro deal with the club in early 2023 and subsequently had temporary moves to Barwell, Peterborough Sports, and Glentoran. His performances for Glentoran last season, which included several goals across many matches, led to a permanent switch to Hearts on a long-term contract. Lincoln received a compensation payment when he left. He featured for Hearts against Benfica prior to his loan move to Kilmarnock being finalized.
Ring's career trajectory involved joining Lincoln from AIK on a long-term deal, netting his first goal in England against Northampton Town, and then moving to Kilmarnock for an undisclosed sum on a two-year contract.
Meanwhile, Lincoln's senior squad is getting ready for their upcoming Championship match. The team is positioned in the middle of the league standings with several points from their opening fixtures. Their latest results include a mix of victories, draws, and a loss. Their next game is an away match against Bristol City as they aim to continue a respectable beginning to the campaign.
Kilmarnock's attention is now on an upcoming away game against Hibernian, where Kamson-Kamara will be aiming for potential involvement.
